Nina, nka Bridget

This sweet, beautiful boxer was making the best of her sad life. Dumped in the middle of winter, she had dug a hole under an abandoned truck cap to stay warm and give birth in. Thankfully, two pups survived and a good Samaritan spotted her. She started feeding Nina, but the weather in Jan. was frightful.

Of course, with this horrific weather, Nina needed more shelter and support. As soon as Save Ohio Strays learned of her predicament, Board member, Diane Lewin, jumped into action. Caring for Ty (our pound momma rescue) and her 7 babies, Diane still answered the call to a second momma in need. She loaded Nina and her two babies into her van, and all life suddenly got better for this poor sweet girl! Warm home, lots of high quality food, and an abundance of love, Nina came out of her shell.

She thrived with her new foster mom, Teri (a school teacher), and watched both her babies go into wonderful homes. Finally, it was her turn. The Boedickers had never owned a dog, but knew they were ready. They heard about her through a fellow teacher at school. As soon as they met her, it was love! 4 darling girls, both mom and dad are in academics. Dad is Principal of a local school while Mom teaches. They had researched the breed, adopting, and all other important factors.

Nina now gets more love, treats and attention that she has ever known in her little life! She waits for the bus to get home every day for her afternoon stroll and just cherishes the girls. Needless to say, it is mutual. In fact, each girl had picked out a personal gift for her for her arrival. She sleeps by Mom and Dad's side and enjoys multiple walks by each every day.

She bounces and plays in the yard like every dog should - probably for the first time in her life. Dad called us last week just to let us know how much they loved her already. Thanks, Boedickers, for being her Life Saver! This throw away deserved a second chance, and Save Ohio Strays is delighted to provide it. This is why we do it!
