Be careful how you deck those halls! Please be aware of the following potential hazards to your pet: Ribbons and Tinsel
These are of particular interest to playful kitties or pups who see these materials as toys (or prey) – to be chased, pounced upon, chewed, or swallowed. The chasing and pouncing pose no threat, but chewing or swallowing those materials is. They can get caught in their GI Tract, leading to a bunching of the intestine as the body tries to pass the string or tinsel. This can even become a life threatening condition requiring surgery for correction and removal. Electric Light Cords
These are also tempting to cats or pups/dogs who like to play with string as well as chew. If a pet bites through an electrical cord, it could result in a severe burn to the tongue, which causes the pet’s lungs to fill with fluid, causing respiratory distress. Also requires immediate emergency vet care. Chocolate
Many do realize chocolate is poison to pets. Unsweetened baking chocolate carries a much higher dose of the toxin, “theobromine” than does milk chocolate, but even normal chocolate can be dangerous.
